Steven Lewis Skibstead, 61, of Fremont passed away peacefully on July 28, 2024.
Steven was born on November 28, 1962 in Rochester, Minnesota, and was raised by his parents Stanley and Luetta Skipstead. He had a lifetime of work experiences from production work in a factory, to cooking, to being a mechanic, to tearing down and putting up grain bins. He married Christina Montanye on May 30, 2016, after many years of happy partnership.
Steven will be remembered by many as a man whose love language was teasing the people he cared most about. (His main targets were his loving sister Ruth, and his niece — but anyone he loved caught his jokes, laughter, and ornery acts.) He loved fishing, putting together models, picking out movies from Goodwill, collecting record albums, handing out candy at church, and his therapy dog, Sophia.
Steven is survived by his wife, Christina (Montanye) Skibstead, son, Chris, daughter, Amanda; furbaby Sophia; brother, Percy; sister, Ruth, and his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers, Raymond and Floyd.
There will be a visitation with an open mic to share your memories about Steven from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, August 2, 2024 at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont.
