Three Rivers Public Health Department Discovers 4th Saunders County Case

WAHOO – Three Rivers Public Health Department (3RPHD) has identified an additional case of COVID-19 in Saunders County.   This case is a close contact of the case identified at the Saunders County Department of Corrections on April 1, 2020, and is the 3rd case within the organization.

The newest case is that of a Saunders county resident in her 50s. She is self-isolating at home.  Contact investigations are currently being completed. All identified close contacts will self-quarantine and be actively monitored twice daily by public health officials for fever and respiratory symptoms.

3RPHD has worked with the Saunders County Sheriff’s office and the Saunders County Department of Corrections, and were able to test 12 employees on April 2, 2020.  Out of the 12 employees, 10 tested negative, 1 is positive and 1 result remains pending. “The employees at the Saunders County Department of Corrections are continuing to provide the best service possible and Sheriff Stukenholtz has provided exceptional leadership,” said Terra Uhing, Executive Director of Three Rivers Public Health Department.

Asked about their morale at the facility, Sheriff Kevin Stukenholtz said, “The employees we have are making extraordinary efforts to serve their community with their outstanding work ethic.”

This is Saunders County’s 4th case. There are 285 lab  confirmed cases in Nebraska.
