
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the thefts of military grave markers from the Fort Calhoun Cemetery.
American Legion Post No. 348 in Fort Calhoun reported that during the time frame of Feb. 15-23, 80 of the 312 bronze grave markers were missing.
The markers are about six inches in diameter and vary in style and design. They depict U.S. wars throughout history starting with the Civil War. They list the military branch and the dates of service for the veteran.
The list of missing markers include 26 from World War II and 18 from the Korean War.
