SIOUX CITY, Iowa – The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) has released its 2023-24 Women’s Basketball Preseason Coaches Poll. Dordt University totaled 121 points in the poll, tallying 11 of the 12 possible first-place votes. Midland University was selected 11th for the second straight season.
Dordt, who won the regular-season title in 2022-23, is followed by last year’s conference tournament champions, Briar Cliff University. Concordia University, who picked up a first-place vote, is third. Rounding out the top five are the University of Jamestown and Northwestern College.
Midland will begin its season a week from Friday on the road at the Chick-fil-A Classic in Bellevue, Nebraska. The Warriors will face Dickinson State on Friday afternoon followed by a Saturday evening game with Bellevue at the Gordon Lozier Athletic Center.
The Warriors will also play in the Hastings Classic the following week before playing their first home game on Wednesday, November 15. Midland will host Briar Cliff in its home and conference opener at 6:00 p.m. inside the Wikert Event Center.
