Laverne E. Krohn, 86, of Fremont died Sunday, Nov. 20, 2022, at home.

 

Laverne was born June 30, 1936m on a farm near Scribner to Hilbert and Paula ‘Geisler’ Krohn. He was raised in Scribner until the family moved to a farm northeast of Fremont in 1949. He graduated from Fremont High School in 1958 then began a 25 year career with Western Electric. He then returned to the family farm northeast of Fremont and farmed until retiring around 2015.

 

Laverne was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also loved to go to the Keene Memorial Library until it became hard for him to get around. He also could be seen during meal time at Hy-Vee and McDonald’s. Laverne was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Fremont.

 

Survivors:

Sister – Mary Lou (Norman) Heller of Fremont

Brother – Duane Krohn of Fremont

Six nephews

Three great-nephews and 4 great nieces

 

Laverne was preceded in death by his parents, sister and brother-in-law Evelyn (Hugo) Hoegermeyer, brother Lyle and sister-in-law Sun Ye Krohn.

 

The memorial service will be  2 p.m. Friday, May 5, 2023, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fremont. The Rev. Anthony Gerber will officiate. Memorials can be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church.
