After an extensive investigation by the Dodge County Sheriff’s office, the Dodge County Attorney’s office filed charges in connection with the death of Yashua Martinez. Martinez, 27 of Lavista, Nebraska, was found deceased, back on September 22nd, 2022, by construction crews, alongside Highway 275, south of Morningside road.
Marissa Utterback, 30, of Fremont is charged with Manslaughter and Motor Vehicle Homicide, as well as reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident, failure to render aid, tampering with evidence and several other traffic violations.
“Thanks to the diligent efforts of the investigators, our office is confident that prosecution of these very serious charges is justified in connection with Yashual Martinez’s death,”
said Dodge County Attorney Pam Hopkins.
Dodge County Sheriff Dustin Weitzel said, ” It is my hope that the suspect being identified and arrested will bring closure to the Martinez family as they grieve this loss.”
The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office was assisted in this investigation by the Nebraska State Patrol , the Fremont Police department, La Vista Police, and crime scene investigators with the Douglas County Sheriff’s office.
