Fremont Mayor Joey Spellerberg will recommend businessman Tad Dinkins to join the City Council on Tuesday night.
Dinkins is the head store manager for Butler Ag Equipment in Fremont. The council will vote on his confirmation at its regular meeting.
Dinkins is a member of the Archbishop Bergan Catholic School Board of Education. He also serves on the United Way Board of Directors and is a member of the Fremont Utility and Infrastructure Board.
If confirmed, Dinkins will replace Vern Gibson. The Ward 1 councilman resigned in December due to health issues.
The last time the mayor had to appoint someone to council was in October of 2021 when James Vaughan replaced Michael Kuhns.
Dinkins and his wife Lynn, a second-grade teacher at Bergan Elementary School, are the parents to three daughters.
