Dickinson, ND- The Moo get their 24th win of the season in a 5-2 game against the Badlands Big Sticks. The Moo now move to 8-3 in the 2nd half(24-16 overall), while the Big Sticks move to 6-6 in the 2nd half(23-17 overall).
It was a pitcher’s duel between the two starting pitchers, Nick Balch for the Moo and Jonathon Lerma for the Big Sticks. Balch went 6.1 innings, allowing one run on six hits, and striking out two. Lerma went 6 innings, allowing four runs(one earned)on two hits, and striking out seven in the process.
Fremont would open up the scoring in the 6th with four runs jumpstarted by an Austin Baskin sac-fly to CF that scored Tyler Harrington. Then, a wild pitch by Lerma would score Jared Snyder from 3rd before a Zech Samayoa double to LF would score Matt Spear and Kanin Dodge. A Ben Higdon ground-rule double in the 7th would score Nico Azpilcueta for the 5th and final run of the game for the Moo. For the Big Sticks, they would score their two runs on a sac-fly in the 7th, and then an error on Harrington would score Badland’s other run.
The Moo have two off days today and tomorrow before a three-game series with the Hastings Sodbusters at home Friday through Sunday.
