Spearfish, SD- The Moo take their 6th win and 3rd loss of the season in a doubleheader against the Spearfish Sasquatch 11-2 and 11-6 respectively. The Moo move to 6-3 on the season maintaining 1st place in the Nebraskaland Division while the Sasquatch moves to 3-10 and stay in 4th in the Great Plains Division.
In Game 1 it was all Moo as they took the lead in the 1st inning off an Evan Rowe single to center field that scored Zane Skansi from 2nd to make it a 1-0 game. The Sasquatch would answer back in the bottom of the 2nd with a single and two straight walks to make it bases loaded before OF Trey Vorwald hit a single to right field scoring 1 to tie the game back up. They would score one more off a fielder’s choice to 2nd to make it 2-1 Sasquatch.
The teams would trade blows back and forth with no runs scored until the top of the 5th when the Moo would take the lead for good started by a single then a walk and an HBP would load up the bases. A Fielder’s choice later took out the runner at home but the 3 left on base, Rowe/Ian Graf/Austin Baskin, would be brought home on an OF/P Jason Axelberg double to left field to make it 4-2. The Moo would strike again with 2 more in the top of the 6th off a Graf double to center field scoring Kanin Dodge and Nico Azpilcueta to make it 6-2. Finally, the Moo scored 5 in the top of the 7th to seal the win started by a single and two straight HBPs then a Skansi single to center field scored Trey Nichols from 3rd. Then a single by Dodge to right field scored Axelberg and Ty Borgogno making it 9-2 before another Graf double to right field scored Skansi and Dodge for the final runs of the game. Axelberg had an impressive debut for the Moo going 2-3 with 3 RBIs and 1 run while Graf went 2-4 with 4 RBIs and 1 run of his own
For Game 2 it was a different story as the Sasquatch got the scoring started in the bottom of the 1st off a 2-RBI single to make it 2-0 before in the top of the 2nd Bobby Brown hit an RBI triple to CF that scored INF Tyler Harrington to cut the lead in half. The Sasquatch would maintain their lead for the game scoring 5 in the 2nd, 3 in the 4th, and 1 in the 6th while the Moo could only manage the 1 in the 2nd, 4 in the 4th, and 1 in the 6th. Harrington had an impressive debut in Game 2 going 1-3 with 2 runs, 1 RBI, and 1 walk as well as C Matt Spear going 2-3 scoring 2 runs of his own.
In Game 1 RHP Luke Hamzeh got the win for the Moo going 6 innings allowing 2 runs on 5 hits striking out 3 in the process while Connor Jones took the loss for the Sasquatch going 4 2/3 innings allowing 4 runs over 7 hits striking out 4. In Game 2 however, RHP Kai Taylor took the loss for the Moo going 2 innings allowing 7 runs on 4 hits striking out only 1 in the process while P Dylan Richey got the win for the Sasquatch going 2 innings allowing 1 run on 2 hits striking out 3.
