Dog enthusiasts won’t want to miss Bark in the Park scheduled for Saturday at Clemmons Park in Fremont.
The event, set from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. will feature concessions, raffles, games, vendor booths and other activities.
“I believe this is our third one,” said Martha Bang of FurEver Home. “We started doing it as just an opportunity to get out in the public and be a little bit more available than just have people stop in for a specific purpose. It has kind of grown.”
Bang said there will be a couple of different dog trainers available to talk to pet owners about their training needs.
“We’ll also have a lot of different pet vendors. Wildlife Rescue Team will be there. That is an organization that when we get calls about wildlife, they take the injured ones and rehabilitate them before letting them back into the wild.”
The Working Cat Project potentially could be there with some adoptable kittens, Bang said. Northern Plains Boxer Rescue and Midwest Dog Rescue Network and others are also planning to participate.
In related news, Furever Home will be moving in the next few weeks from its current location at 236 W. Sixth St. to 925 W. Sixth St.
“We’ll have a little bit more space there and a little bit more open to the public-type reception area so we’re super excited to get moved in there,” Bang said. “It might be by the end of the month, but we’ll see. Watch or Facebook for that announcement.”
Furever was awarded a contract earlier this year from the City of Fremont to provide sheltering for animal control services. It started for dogs only, but now includes cats, bunnies, and many other kinds of animals.
“It has been a lot of fun,” Bang said. “We have definitely enjoyed working more closely with the community on their needs for keeping animals in yards, getting spays and neuters done and things like that.”
