Couples pageant to benefit Habitat for Humanity

There wasn’t a lot of debate as to whether Trista and Aaron Beaudette were going to participate in the Mr. and Mrs. Habitat Pageant.

“We talked about it and we were like, ‘You know what, this could be awesome,’” Trista said. “It is something we’ve never really done and something we could do together as a couple.”

The Beaudettes are one of four couples scheduled to compete in the event on July 24 at the Fremont City Auditorium. The social hour is 6 to 7 p.m. with the dinner and pageant to follow. The other couples include Bode and Tasha Hill, Dustin and Katie Papa, and Jason and Laura Griffis.

“There are a lot of good candidates,” Laura Griffis said. “They are all great and it is for a great cause.”

Jason Griffis agreed.

“Ultimately it is to raise funds and help the community,” he said. “It is a win-win situation.”

While Habitat has done other fundraising events in the past, the Mr. & Mrs. Habitat Pageant made its debut last year. Due to COVID-19, it was done virtually.

Marin Laferla, community outreach and volunteer coordinator for Habitat, said there are several ways to support one of the couples.

“You can still buy tickets and sponsorships,” she said, noting that the website is www.fremonthabitat.org. “When you buy a table or a sponsorship, that goes toward your vote and you can choose which couple you want. You can also visit the website and choose your couple. Votes are through donations.”

During the event, couples will participate in talent, formal wear and interview portions of the pageant.

“It should be a fun time,” Laura Griffis said.
