There were no injuries Wednesday from a fire at 1125 N. Irving St. in Fremont.
Fire chief Todd Bernt said the department was called to the scene at 5:18 p.m. and had the blaze under control at 5:27.
An individual living at the house was using a propane torch to burn cotton fibers when the garage caught fire.
“It was a single-car garage that was totally involved upon our arrival,” he said. “It was starting to catch the neighbor’s garage on fire just due to the heat. The neighbor had a shed behind the garage that was totally destroyed.”
Bernt said estimated damages included $35,000 in property and $15,000 for contents.
