High School Sports
The Archbishop Bergan girls and boys track and field teams competed in the Wayne Invite, Tuesday. The Knight boys finished first, scoring 129 points. Laurel-Concord Coleridge was second with 117. The Bergan girls finished sixth with 54 points. Wisner-Pilger’s girls were first with 136.
Koa McIntyre and Chris Pinales finished 1-2 in the 100. McIntyre touched the tape first at 11.17. Kaitlyn Mlnarik won the girls 800 in 2:40.02. Mlnarik also won the 1600 in 5:58.37. The girls 4×800 relay of Sydney Meyer, Jadin Ostrand, Carlee Hapke and Kaitlyn Mlnarik were first in 11:13.13. The boys 4×800 relay of Ben Simonson, Carter Demuth, Sam Sleister and Andrew Fellers were first in first in 9:25.19. Shea Gossett won the boys long jump at 19’ 0.5”. Gossett also won the triple jump at 40’ 4”.
The Blair High girls and boys track and field teams competed in the Plattsmouth Blue Devil Invite, Tuesday. In boys action, Blair finished fifth with 53 points. Omaha Skutt Catholic was first with 134. In girls action, Blair finished first with 192 points. Bennington was second with 88.
Reese Beemer won the girls 100 in 12.75. Tessa Villotta Sami Cemer went 1-2 in the 100 hurdles with Villotta crossing first at 16.67. Beemer won the 200 in 27.12. Erika Roehrs and Villotta were 1-2 in the 300 hurdles with Roehrs taking first in 49.56. Nolan Slominski won the boys 800 in 2:04.13. The Blair girls were first in the 4×100 relay in 51.29. The Lady Bears 4×400 relay was first in 4:19.40. The Blair boys 4×800 relay was first in 8:53.59. Hailey Baker won the girls discus at 134’ 3”. Grace Galbraith and Sami Cemer were 1-2 in the girls pole vault. Both cleared 9’0”, with Galbraith taking first. Lance Hume won the boys shot put at 41’0”. Hailey Baker and Kylie Quick were 1-2 in the girls shot put. Baker was first at 40’ 3 ½”.
The Bergan Knights boys golf played in a quad at the Oakland Golf Course, Tuesday. The Knights tied for first with Oakland-Craig at 181. Bergan’s Brady Davis was the meet medalist, shooting a 38. Spencer Hamilton finished fifth with a 44. Preston Tracy shot a 48 and Jarett Boggs shot a 51.
The Blair boys golf team also competed in the quad at the Oakland Golf Course. Blair finished fourth, shooting 204. Easton Chaffee led the Bears, shooting a 48.
The Blair baseball team lost to Elkhorn in the EMC semifinals, Tuesday, 10-0.
The Blair girls soccer team defeated Elkhorn North in the EMC Tournament, Tuesday, 4-2.
The Blair boys soccer team lost to Waverly, 5-1, in the EMC Tournament, semifinals, Tuesday.
Midland U
The Midland women and men’s lacrosse teams hosted Morningside College at Heedum Field, Tuesday. The Warrior women won 14-1 and the Midland men won 18-4.
UNO
Sophomore Josh Peters posted the Omaha men’s golf team’s top score as the Mavericks finished eighth at the Stampede at The Creek, their own spring tournament. The Mavericks finished the suspended second round to open the day, posting a team score of 312, and followed with a third-round score of 310 for a total of 940. North Dakota State won the tournament with a total of 892. South Dakota State was second at 898, and SIUE was third at 901.v
