Tiger Swim Team Takes on Millard South

FREMONT – The Swimmers were back in action travelling to Millard South on Tuesday December 15.
“This meet’s purpose was for the swimmers to swim events they do not compete in a lot, or their “off” events,” said coach David Struble. “All the swimmers stepped up to the challenge and swam very well. It ended up being a very close meet on the Girls and the Boys side.”
The Millard South meet is the last meet for the Tigers until January 7th.

Overall scores:

Girls: FHS 97, Millard South 82
Boys: FHS 83, Millard South 99

Girls:

  • The Girls 200 medley relay was a great race by both the A and the B relays for Fremont, they went 1-2 in the event and both beat the Millard South A relay, which is rare! The B relay of Grace Blick, Karsen Jesse, Elisabeth Meyer, and Kiera Spilinek with a winning time of 2:09.69.
  • The girls continued the momentum with Ellie Schiemann taking first place in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:16.66, with teammate Lucy Dillon finishing 2nd.
  • Teammates Charlotte Vech and Kiera Spilinek went 2nd and 3rd in the 200 IM.
  • Freshman Madelyn Buck had a winning performance in the 50 free, clockin a time of 26.77 which is just off her season best. Teammates Elisabeth Meyer and Addie Schiemann placed 3rd and 4th.
  • Madelyn Buck came back with another victory in the 100 fly, with a winning time of 1:09.70, teammate Addie Schiemann placing 3rd in that event.
  • Junior Karsen Jesse had a good swim in the 100 free winning with at time of 58.19, Ellie Schiemann and Lauren Wolfe placing 3rd and 5th.
  • In the Girls 500 freestyle we had three great performances out of Grace Blick (2nd) Lucy Dillon (3rd) and Elisabeth Meyer (4th) all scoring important points for the team.
  • The 200 Free relay foursome of Madelyn Buck, Ellie Schiemann, Grace Blick, and Karsen Jesse won with a time of 1:52.47.
  • Karsen Jesse returns in the 100 back with a first place time of 1:10.15, with teammate Charlotte Vech following with a 2nd place finish.
  • Junior Grace Blick returned to the 100 breaststroke with a strong swim earning the victory with at time of 1:28.42.
  • To end the meet the foursome of Charlotte Vech, Madelyn Buck, Lucy Dillon, and Elisabeth Meyer win the 400 free relay, by almost 20 seconds.

Boys:

  • The Boys started off strong with a victory in the 200 Medley relay we well. The relay of John Monson, Landon Lamson, Nathaniel McClellan, and Connor Christ with a winning time of 1:49.02.
  • Sophmore Connor Christ had a good swim in the 200 freestyle earning him the 1st place spot with a time of 2:04.32. Teammate Devin Mark placing 5th.
  • Senior Nathaniel McClellan with a good performance in the 200 IM winning with a time of 2:10.36, teammate Zach Johnson placing 4th.
  • The boys 50 free was a close race between John Monson and Millard south swimmer, John being touched out for 2nd with a time of 23.50, a season best time. Teammate Ethan Lefler placing 3rd with a time of 26.32.
  • The Boys 100 fly was a dominate performance by Senior Nathaniel McClellan, winning with a season best time of 56.03.
  • The Boys 100 free had a lot of points scored by Landon Lamson placing 2nd, Gabe Christ placing 4th, and Ethan Lefler placing 5th.
  • The Boys 500 free was maybe the most exciting race, Senior Josh Lossi had a neck to neck race with Millard South, Josh touching first for the win by only 3 tenths of a second.
  • The Boys 200 free relay had another victory with the team of Connor Christ, Landon Lamson, John Monson, and Nathaniel McClellan with a time of 1:37.87.
  • Sophmore John Monson returned to the 100 back and had a good swim winning the event with a time of 58.91 which is a personal best time.
  • Freshman Landon Lamson had a good swim in the 100 breaststroke, winning the event with a time of 1:14.62
  • The 400 free relay team of Gabe Christ, Cade Arnett, Devin Mark, and Josh Iossi put up a great effort and placed 3rd to end the meet.
