Kenneth “Ken” Richard Troost, 73, of Fremont passed away, May 2, 2026, at CHI Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha.
Ken was born May 7, 1952, in Oak Park, Illinois, to Henry and Florence (Ross) Troost.
He graduated from Dundee High School in Illinois and received his business degree at Midland College in Fremont. Ken managed Culligan in Fremont until 1992 before becoming an insurance agent with Farmers Union in Fremont. Ken married Andrea Heine on September 19, 1992, at First United Methodist Church in Fremont.
Ken was a member of the Fremont Airboat Club and Nebraska Airboat Association.
He is survived by his wife, Andrea of Fremont; son, Kyle (Jolissa) Troost of Hooper; brother, Henry “Chip” (Nancy) Troost of River Falls, Wisconsin; twin sister, Karen Vermillion of Connecticut; brother-in-law, Jon Heine of California; and sister-in-law, Angela Wipfli of California; niece, Alexis; nephews, Hank, Zeke, and Tommy.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents; and nephew, Jon.
Ken’s Celebration of Life will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 9, 2026, at Whis’s End Zone in Fremont.
