
Marilyn Kock, 94, of Fremont passed away on April 3, 2026 at Nye Legacy in Fremont.
Marilyn was born to Harold and Elly (Markert) Sherwood in Randolph on January 23, 1932. She graduated from Randolph Public Schools in May of 1949, and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1953 with a degree in education. She taught school in Randolph and Fremont until her retirement in 1994. She married Clayton Kock in 1955. They later divorced.
Marilyn was active in the community. A 70+ year member of PEO, lifetime member First United Methodist Church in Randolph and Fremont, Member of the Fremont Area Medical Auxiliary, VFW 854, Fremont Area Association of Retired School Personnel, and Beta. She belonged to several Bridge groups and was a faithful fan of UNL football and volleyball.
Survivors include: son, Kim (Christy Brown) of Green Valley, Arizona; daughter, Keri of Pueblo, Colorado; two step-grandsons, Taylor Brown of Bent, Oregon, and Kevin Brown of San Diego, California; grandniece, Jennifer Hill who she formed a special bond with in the last few years as Jennifer also served as her caregiver; and two grandnephews, Cody Campbell and Jered Campbell.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Jeannette Donkin.
The funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday April 13, 2026 at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Visitation will be 4:30 to 6 p.m. Sunday also at Moser’s.
Burial will be in the Randolph Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to First United Methodist Church, Fremont.
