SIOUX CITY, Iowa – The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC), along with Hauff Mid-America Sports, has announced its softball player and pitcher of the week for contests played March 9-15, 2026. Mackenzie Groninga of Midland University was named the GPAC Pitcher of the Week, while Ashlen Johnson of Dakota Wesleyan University earned player of the week honors.
Groninga, a sophomore from Blair, Nebraska, picked up three wins last week at the Tucson Invitational Games. She tallied 29 strikeouts over 21.2 innings with an ERA of 1.62. She missed out on a fourth win after not going the required minimum innings as Midland built a big lead early against Viterbo.
