FREMONT, Neb. — Midland University wrapped up a four-game series against Dordt University on Saturday afternoon, sweeping the day with a 12-9 win in game one and a 15-5 run-rule victory in game two to take the series 3-1.
GAME ONE: Midland 12, Dordt 9
Dordt opened the game with a home run to left field, taking a 1-0 lead after the first inning.
The Defenders extended their lead in the top of the second, scoring five runs on three hits and one error to make it 6-0.
The Warriors responded in the bottom of the second with an explosive inning. Owen Gloverled off with a single and Eimir Perez Jr. drew a walk. Hunter Spencer tripled to right field, scoring Glover and Perez Jr. Adam Muniz Jr. followed with an RBI single to score Spencer, and Jax Sorensen entered to courtesy run.
Anthony Martinez doubled down the right-field line to bring home Sorensen. Chase Bougeslater reached on an error, moving Martinez to third, before a groundout scored Martinez. Two-out singles from Dax Wandler and Jimmy Martinez put runners on the corners before Glover delivered a triple down the right-field line, scoring Wandler and J. Martinez.
Perez Jr. followed with a triple of his own to score Glover. Spencer drew a walk, stole second and advanced to third on an error as Perez Jr. scored on the same play. Muniz Jr. drew another walk with Sorensen again entering as a courtesy runner, and Spencer later stole home to cap the inning.
Midland scored 10 runs in the second inning to take a 10-6 lead.
Brody Boyle later reached on a Dordt error, stole second and advanced to third on a groundout before Jimmy Martinez singled to left field to score Boyle and extend the lead to 11-6.
Bouges reached after being hit by a pitch in the fifth inning and eventually scored on a Dordt error to make it 12-6.
Dordt cut the deficit to 12-9 with a three-run home run in the top of the seventh, but Brandon Creps shut the door to secure the Midland victory.
Cooper Culhane earned the win with three innings pitched, allowing two hits and two walks while striking out two and giving up no runs.

GAME TWO: Midland 15, Dordt 5 (7 innings)
Brody Boyle was hit by a pitch to lead off the first inning, and Dax Wandler followed with a walk. A groundout advanced both runners before another groundout brought Boyle home to give Midland a 1-0 lead.
Adam Muniz Jr. singled with one out in the second inning before Anthony Martinez and Chase Bouges drew back-to-back walks to load the bases. Sorensen entered to courtesy run for Muniz Jr.
Boyle laid down a sacrifice bunt to score Sorensen, and a Dordt error allowed Martinez and Bouges to score as Midland extended its lead to 4-0 after two innings.
The Warriors continued their momentum in the third. Perez Jr. singled through the left side with one out and Spencer followed with a double. A sacrifice fly scored Perez Jr., and another Dordt error allowed Spencer to score.
Bouges singled through the right side and advanced to second on a wild pitch before Boyle singled up the middle to score A. Martinez. Boyle later stole second, advanced to third on a throwing error and stole home to push the lead to 9-0.
Dordt got on the board in the fourth with a double and two singles to score two runs.
The Defenders added another run in the fifth with back-to-back walks and a single before a fielder’s choice brought home a runner to cut the deficit to 9-3.
Muniz Jr. drew a leadoff walk in the fifth and Sorensen again entered as a courtesy runner. A. Martinez singled to left-center to score Sorensen. Cooper Benecke walked and later advanced on a wild pitch before Wandler singled to bring home Martinez.
Jimmy Martinez walked to put runners on the corners before a two-out double by Perez Jr. scored Wandler and Benecke, extending the lead to 13-3.
Spencer drew a leadoff walk in the sixth inning and advanced to second on a passed ball before scoring on an error to make it 14-3.
Dordt added two runs in the seventh on three hits to cut the deficit to 14-5.
Perez Jr. reached on a fielder’s choice and stole second before advancing to third on an error. Sotero Ureno then singled through the left side to give Midland the run-rule victory, 15-5.
Jarron Utterback earned the win, pitching five innings while allowing five hits and three runs with two walks and two strikeouts.
