James Edward Rothanzl, 84, of North Bend passed away Sunday, February 8, 2026 at Nye Legacy in Fremont. He was born June 11, 1941 in Omaha to Frank and Rose (Kahnen) Rothanzl.

James lived in Omaha and Louisville and also Crescent, Iowa, before settling near North Bend. He was a 1959 graduate of Missouri Valley, Iowa High School. James served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War from November 20, 1963 to November 19, 1965 at Fort Riley, Kansas. He married Delores Pojar on October 25, 1969 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in North Bend. He was a truck driver for Wilbur Legband Transfer and a hired farm hand.

James was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. He enjoyed gardening, cutting and splitting wood and being outdoors. He also liked going to auctions when he could.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Elizabeth “Betty” Rowland and infant Eilene; and brother, Richard Rothanzl.

Survived by his wife, Delores Rothanzl of North Bend, son Steve (Amanda) Rothanzl of Valparaiso, daughters Angela (Keith) Dudek and Pamela (Michael) Rowe all of Lincoln, brothers Edward (Linda) Rothanzl of Rolla, Missouri, and John (Erma) Rothanzl of Alma, Georgia; and five grandchildren Kaydin & Ashlee Dudek, Olivia, Connor and Logan Rowe.

Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 13, 2026, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in North Bend. Visitation will be5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Moser’s in North Bend. Visitation will continue on Friday one hour prior to the mass at the church. Burial and Military Honors will conducted at Woodland Cemetery in North Bend.
