Structural Component Systems, Inc., a 100% employee-owned wood component manufacturer in Fremont will be recognizing 180 employees who have reached full vesting in the company’s employee stock ownership plan (ESOP).
The milestone will be celebrated with a Valentine’s-themed appreciation event highlighting the company’s commitment to long-term employee investment. Honorees will receive commemorative branded YETI tumblers, and all employees will be invited to enjoy a coffee, hot cocoa, and dessert bar throughout the day.
“Reaching 100% vesting represents more than tenure — it reflects dedication, shared responsibility, and belief in our collective future,” Director of Human Resources and chair of the company’s ESOP Committee Diane Mallette said. “Employee-owners are the heart of our success, and this celebration is a small way to say thank you.”
As a 100% employee-owned organization, Structural Component Systems believes ownership drives engagement, accountability, and sustainable growth. Events like this reinforce the company’s values of appreciation, partnership, and long-term commitment.
SCS established their ESOP in 2020, purchasing 30% of the company stock. In 2024, the remaining shares were purchased, resulting in 100% employee-ownership. An Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) is a qualified retirement plan that enables employees to own company stock, acting as a tax-advantaged benefit that vests over time. Primarily funded by the employer, ESOPs invest in company shares, allowing employees to build wealth without out-of-pocket costs. They serve as an exit strategy for owners to sell their stake to a trust while boosting employee engagement and retention.
With company headquarters in Fremont, SCS is one of Fremont’s largest employers with more than 500 employees, mostly located in Fremont and one of Nebraska’s largest ESOPs. SCS also has offices in Omaha, Lincoln and Grimes, Iowa.
