
Nancy L. Bracken, 93, of Fremont passed away Tuesday, January 27, 2026 in Lincoln. She was born November 1, 1932 in Bostwick to Claude Leonard and Florence Edith (Reiselt) Bailey.
Nancy grew up in Guide Rock and graduated from Guide Rock High School. She married Clifford “Melvin” Bracken June 22, 1950 in Red Cloud. They lived in Plattsmouth, Elmwood and Weeping Water for 20 years and came to Fremont in 2006. She was an Avon Sales Associate and later owned Mode-O-Day Dress Shop in Plattsmouth. She could be seen selling her jellies and jams with Clifford at area farmers markets. Clifford preceded her in death November 12, 2018.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Fremont Ward and former member of the Plattsmouth Ward.
Nancy is survived by her daughter, Lynnda Schiermann of Fremont; sons, Melvin “Dale” Bracken of Oceanside, California, and Jeffrey (Debra) Bracken of Elmwood; sisters, Maybelle Joyce (Bob) Ruxton of Hastings and Jean Kay Loya of Clifton, Arizona; sister-in-law, Leta Bailey of Lincoln; 11 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Randall Bracken, grandson, Zachery Barrett; brothers, Ward Denis Bailey Jerold Ray Bailey and Nicholas George Bailey; sister, Myrtie Delka, and son-in-law, Wesley Schiermann.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Fremont Ward. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont.
