fatal-accident

The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a two-vehicle personal injury crash on Thursday that claimed the life of a Craig man.

Deputies responded at about 10:13 p.m. to the accident on Highway 77 south of County Road A and north of Uehling.

The subsequent investigation revealed that a red 2000 Pontiac Sedan, driven by William Rouse, 77, of Craig was northbound on Highway 77 in the southbound lane. Rouse’s vehicle then struck a gray 2019 Kenworth semi driven by Jeremy Burns, 44, of Whtting, Iowa, that was southbound on Highway 77. Seat belts were not in use in the Pontiac, but were used in the Kenworth.

Rouse succumbed to his injuries at the scene. It is unknown at this time if speed or alcohol were factors in the accident. The investigation is ongoing.

The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Nebraska State Patrol, the Uehling Fire Department and drone team.
