Former District 15 State Senator Lynne Walz officially announced her candidacy for governor Wednesday at Milady Coffeehouse in Fremont.
Coming off her two-month-long exploratory committee and statewide listening tour, Walz shared her plan for the governorship with her supporters, emphasizing the importance of economic development and bringing Nebraskans together.
“After two months of traveling and listening to Nebraskans across the state, I decided to enter the race for governor,” said Walz. “Nebraska is full of possibilities, and we need a governor who will focus on creating and attracting good-paying jobs, supporting our public schools, and lowering the cost of food, healthcare, and daycare. I believe we have more in common than what divides us, and I assure you I will be a governor who is focused on Nebraska’s future.”
Walz is a battle-tested and effective legislator. She developed a reputation for her bipartisan approach, working with Republicans on property tax relief legislation, and was honored as Legislator of the Year by the Fraternal Order of Police.
Walz said she will follow that bipartisan approach as governor.
“Too many people feel like government isn’t working for them. I promise to be a governor who listens, tells the truth, and works hard every day to make life better for families across our state,” she said.
