
Loraine Mae Woehl, 86, of Fremont passed away peacefully, December 28, 2025, at the Arbor Care Center- Valhaven in Valley.
Loraine was born March 13, 1939, in Boyd County to Paul and Vera (Ott) Bendig.
She graduated from Naper High School. Loraine married Robert “Bob” Woehl on September 25, 1957, at Burke, South Dakota. Robert preceded her in death on February 14, 2023.
Loraine worked at Cargill, Campbell Soup, and Western Electric. She was an excellent seamstress and a gifted artist with a remarkable talent for sewing and creating beautiful quilts that will be cherished for generations. Quick-witted, fun-loving, and an eternal optimist, Loraine had a sassy charm that made every moment brighter. She was the family glue holding everyone together and proudly served as the matriarch of family reunions alongside her beloved sister, Margaret, keeping traditions alive and hearts connected.
She is survived by her sons, Rober W. Woehl Jr (Ann) of Linwood and Steven L. Woehl (Loretta) of Brainard,; daughters, Sheryl A. (Perry) Bruegman of Lynch and Carrie L. Johnson of Fremont along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were the joy of her life; sisters, Alma Tiernan of Des Moines, Iowa and Florence “Betsy” Rogero of Palatka, Florida.
Loraine was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bob; great-grandson, Colton; brothers, Walter “Bud”, Albert, Leonard, Leslie, Arthur, Herman, Raymond “Tiny” and Marvin; and sisters, Ethel and Margaret.
Celebration of life is 1 to 5 p.m. January 18, 2026, at Eagles Club in Fremont.
