Midland shot 36-of-62 (58.1%) from the field, while Hesston finished 26-of-57 (45.6%). The Warriors also held a decisive 44-23 rebounding advantage.

“We’ve been back in the gym for a few days after our trip and the holidays, and I really liked our focus coming into tonight,” head coach Tyler Erwin said. “We thought we could impose our physicality and play inside-out. Offensively, we had 21 assists, but we still turned it over too much. Our mindset is never too high, never too low, and never looking at the scoreboard. We have a tough stretch coming up late January and February, so protecting home court is important. I liked our defensive focus, our culture, and the contributions from our bench tonight.”

Midland (8-7, 4-3 GPAC) will host Dakota Wesleyan (7-8, 2-5 GPAC) on Saturday, Jan. 3. Tipoff is scheduled for 3:45 p.m. inside the Wikert Event Center in Fremont, Nebraska.
