Darlene Rose Henningsen, 94, passed away peacefully into the presence of the Lord on Saturday, November 29, 2025, in her home at Nye Square in Fremont.

Darlene was born on October 13, 1931 in Omaha, the second of two children to Leon and Antoinette (Chadek) Blessie. She graduated from Omaha South High School in 1949. Darlene was united in marriage to Ronald J. Henningsen on September 13, 1952 at St. Bridget Catholic Church in Omaha. The couple made their family home first in Omaha, followed by Council Bluffs, Iowa, and over the early years were blessed with four sons. It was through marriage and motherhood that she found her greatest joy. She was a devoted homemaker and a constant source of love, strength, and encouragement to her husband and children. Darlene and Ron enjoyed traveling to various places through Ron’s travel agency career over the years and eventually moved to Fremont in 1977. Here they enjoyed watching their family grow, golfing in various leagues, and especially hosting family Thanksgiving and Easter celebrations, which she continued until she was 85 years old. Darlene and Ronald were married for 43 years when Ronald died in 1996.

Darlene is survived by her children Edward (Rose Ruhland) of Alexandria, South Dakota, James (Jan) of Rolla, Missouri, and John of Fremont; daughter-in-law Patty Henningsen of Phoenix, Arizona; grandchildren Megan (Tracy) Johnke of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Chris (Jessica) Henningsen of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Cory (Julie) Henningsen of Elkhorn, and Ashley Henningsen of Osage Beach, Missouri; great-grandsons Isaiah Johnke, Hudson Johnke, Ryan Henningsen, Tyler Henningsen, and Chase Henningsen; and sister-in-law, Mary Pat Sacco of Omaha, along with nieces and nephews.

Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ronald Henningsen, brother Leon C. Blessie, son Michael Henningsen, and brother-in-law, Joseph Sacco.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the staff at Nye Square Assisted Living and Nye Legacy Skilled Nursing and Rehab Center for the care they provided to our beloved Darlene over the past two years, as well as St. Croix Hospice for the peace and care you brought to her over her final weeks.

Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Saturday, December 6, 2025, at St Patrick’s Catholic Church (Chapel) in Fremont, followed by a lunch at Ludvigsen Mortuary, and concluding with burial at Calvary Cemetery in Omaha. Visitation with family present will be held Friday, December 5 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel in Fremont with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m.
