Derwin Dell Anderson, 94, of Fremont passed away Saturday, November 15, 2025 at his home. He was born June 11, 1931 to Oscar and Louise (Brohn) Anderson.

Derwin grew up at Oakland, Decatur and Lyons and graduated from Lyons High School. He then entered the U.S. Army and served in Korea.

He married Marilyn Baker April 5, 1953. Derwin worked for Hormel until his retirement. After Hormel he then worked as a custodian for the Fremont Public Schools for 20 years.

Derwin married Patricia Peterson January 30, 2000.

He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Fremont and was a part of the church missions to central Mexico and Costa Rica. He was an avid gardener.

Survived by his wife, Pat; son Dr. Clark Anderson; stepson, Rev. Mike (Cheryl) Anderson all of Fremont; stepdaughter, Ellyn (Dan) Newcomer of Wahoo; sister, Nelda Hirsch of Oakland; step-grandchildren, Kata Anderson, Emily Anderson, Carrie Ottis, Sara Schlote, Amanda Minter, Paul Warren, Steven Dunn, Patrick and Daniel Newcomer; 17 step-great-grandchildren and 2 step-great-great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jerome Anderson; sister, Elizabeth Bjornberg and infant sister, Clarice.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday, November 20, 2025, at Salem Lutheran Church in Fremont. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.

Interment with Military Honors will be at Memorial Cemetery in Fremont.
