SIOUX CITY, Iowa – The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) has announced its 2025-26 Women’s Basketball Preseason Coaches’ Poll, with Midland University picked to finish 10th among the league’s 12 teams. The Warriors, led by head coach Chris Burks entering his second season at the helm, look to continue building momentum and take a step forward in conference play this winter.
Defending NAIA National Champion Dordt University was tabbed as the preseason favorite, earning 120 points and 10 of the possible 12 first-place votes. Dakota Wesleyan followed in second with 111 points and one first-place vote, while Hastings came in third with 99 points and the final first-place tally.
Midland finished 10th in last year’s standings and returns several key players from last season’s roster. Under Burks’ leadership, the Warriors are focused on improving both ends of the floor and competing with the GPAC’s top programs in one of the nation’s most competitive conferences.
Points in the poll were awarded on an 11-1 basis, and coaches were not allowed to vote for their own team.
