FREMONT, Neb. – No. 25 Midland University celebrated Senior Night on Saturday, honoring 11 seniors before continuing their Great Plains Athletic Conference schedule with a home match against Dakota Wesleyan. The Warriors entered halftime tied at 1-1 but surrendered the winning goal in the 85th minute, falling for the first time in 11 games.

Midland fell behind early in the 7th minute, as Evan Bolster capitalized on a rebound following a save by goalkeeper Tomas Reyes. Reyes stopped the initial shot but had no chance to prevent the second attempt, giving the Tigers a 1-0 lead.

The Warriors responded with pressure, forcing the Dakota Wesleyan goalkeeper into three first-half saves as they pushed for an equalizer. They broke through in the 37th minute when senior Hugo Garcia-Rosado Duran bent a free kick off the inside of the far post and into the net to level the score at 1-1 heading into halftime.

In the second half, both teams pushed for a winner, with Midland outshooting the Tigers 7-4 between the restart and the 84th minute. Despite their efforts, it was Dakota Wesleyan who found the decisive goal. In the 85th minute, Reyes made another save, but the rebound again fell to a Tiger attacker—this time Maximilian Nolle—who buried the chance to secure a 2-1 victory.

Midland had several chances throughout the game, outshooting Dakota Wesleyan 16-12, but couldn’t find the finishing touch. The loss marks the Warriors’ first since Aug. 28, when they fell to Clarke University. Reyes finished the night with four saves in 90 minutes of action.

Midland (10-2-2, 4-1-1 GPAC) will look to begin a new unbeaten streak when they host Concordia (6-7, 4-2) on Wednesday. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. at Heedum Field.
