This John Bishop comedy centers around a team of composers, playwrights, and performers who, after having a disastrous first production in which a serial killer murdered members of the cast and crew, decide to jump in and collaborate on a new musical. Unfortunately, their luck remains quite tragic as people keep dying around them, and they are snowbound and cannot escape. This madcap adventure is filled with twists and turns and secret passageways, all in the style of a 1930s/40s comedy.
“Even though musical comedy is in its title, it is really not a musical, but about people who work on musical theatre,” said Dan Hays, Director of Theatre at Midland. “It is a funny show with an incredible cast, including several newcomers to Midland.”
Former Midland University Assistant Director of Arts Kyle Thomas, now Director of Marketing and Communications at Opera Omaha, will serve as director.
“This promises to be a delight of a show,” Thomas said. “Based on the murder mystery comedy films popular in the 1930s and 40s, audiences will automatically recognize the style akin to Bob Hope, William Powell, and Rosalind Russell. I’m looking forward to seeing if audiences can solve the whodunnit before the characters on stage.”
