Blair library hosting traveling insects exhibit

The Blair Public Library & Technology Center is “bugging out” as it welcomes the traveling exhibit Small Wonders: Insects in Focus, now on display in the library’s gallery area.

Insects are all around us, yet many are too small to notice. This stunning exhibit brings the hidden world of bugs into
sharp focus, offering viewers a chance to see the intricate details of the creatures that help balance our fragile ecosystem.

Created by Oklahoma-based photographer Bob Sober, the exhibit features 30 larger-than-life images of insects from around the globe. Using advanced photography techniques and cutting-edge technology, Sober captures details invisible to the naked eye — every hair, dimple, and structure — revealing insects as works of art.

“This exhibit is more than just photography; it’s an invitation to look closer at the natural world,” Library Director
Wendy Kukert said. “We hope visitors leave feeling inspired to step outside, explore, and appreciate the beauty, function, and diversity of nature—including the insects that often go unnoticed.”

Small Wonders: Insects in Focus is on loan from the Mid-America Arts Alliance in Kansas City, Missouri. The exhibit will remain open to the public during library hours through October 15.

Admission is free, and all ages are welcome to explore the display.
