SALINA, Kan. — Midland University traveled to Salina to face Kansas Wesleyan University in a nonconference matchup on Wednesday night. The Warriors fell to the Coyotes, 4-0.
Kansas Wesleyan scored an early goal in the 12th minute to set the tone. The Coyotes dominated shots in the first half, holding an 11-1 advantage, including 4-0 on goal. Midland trailed 1-0 at halftime.
After the break, the Coyotes added two quick goals in the 52nd and 53rd minutes to extend their lead to 3-0. Kansas Wesleyan scored the final goal of the game in the 61st minute to secure the 4-0 victory. The Warriors battled in the second half, adding five shots, but the Coyotes held a 23-6 shot advantage overall, including 9-3 on goal. Kansas Wesleyan also led in corner kicks, 7-1.
Ava Brandt played 60:49 minutes in goal for Midland, making five saves, while Julia Sweeney played 29:11 and recorded four saves.
Midland (1-2-1) will travel to Wayne State, Nebraska, to finish their nonconference schedule against Wayne State College (0-0-2) on Saturday, Sept. 13. The match is scheduled to start at noon.
