ATCHISON, Kan. – Midland University opened the 2025 season on the road Thursday evening, falling 5-1 in a nonconference matchup against Benedictine College.

The Ravens struck first with a goal in the 2nd minute and added two more in the 21st and 28th minutes to take a 3-0 lead into halftime.

Benedictine extended its advantage with a goal in the 48th minute before Midland broke through. In the 51st minute, NaTaija Blaylock converted a penalty kick, placing the ball into the right corner of the net to put the Warriors on the board. The Ravens added the final goal of the match in the 72nd minute.

Benedictine held a 21-6 edge in total shots, including 14 on frame. Ava Brandt played the full 90 minutes and recorded nine saves.

The Warriors (0-1) will look to bounce back as they travel to Madison, South Dakota, to take on Dakota State. The non-conference match is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 30th.
