Janice Mae Petersen, 67, of Fremont passed away Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at Methodist Fremont Health. She was born October 14, 1957 in Dennison, Iowa, to Leonard and Margaret (Feddersen) Hegemann.
Janice grew up at rural Schleswig, Iowa, and graduated from Schleswig High School. She lived also at Dennison, Kirkman and Logan, Iowa. In 1980 she moved to Nickerson and in 1984 to Hooper and then finally to Fremont.
Janice was a former member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Hooper prior to their closing.
She is survived by her children, Jeremy Petersen of White, South Dakota, Jacque (Carl) Petersen, Jedidiah Petersen all of Fremont, Josh Petersen of Brookings, South Dakota, and Jordan Petersen of Elkhorn; sisters, Marlys (Gene) Haberberger of Schleswig, Iowa, and Karen (Roger) Baker of rural Kiron, Iowa; and 12 grandchildren.
Janice was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Craig Hegemann.
