fire-7-29-25

Authorities have recovered the body of a man at the site of Tuesday’s Horizon Biofuels explosion.

The man was located by Nebraska Task Force One and other local agencies. Recovery efforts are continuing for two juveniles at the site.

Dodge County Attorney Pam Hopkins has ordered an autopsy for the man. His identity has not been released.

In other developments, a disaster declaration has been signed by the Dodge County Board of Supervisors formally requesting state resources.

There is also a Temporary Flight Restriction (TFR) in the area of 950 South Union as efforts continue by the Drone teams on scene. That restriction will be in place for the next 48 hours.

Multiple fire department resources are on scene to continue fire suppression efforts.

“Due to the structural instability caused by the explosion and the fire’s deep-seated hot spots, operations remain complex and hazardous,” Fremont Rural Fire Department Chief Carl Nielsen said. Crews will remain in place for the duration of the recovery efforts.
