Maynard E. Kucera,  85, of Fremont left this world for the next on Thursday, July 17, 2025. He was born August 15, 1939 in rural Howells to Ernest and Clara (Marik) Kucera.

He attended Howells High School and then in his teens he went to work. With his marriage he had two children, Matthew and Kerri. Valmont Industries in Valley welcomed him as a welder for the next 37 years until his retirement in 2003. Good ol’ Maynard played shuffleboard and pool with an eagle eye. He loved to tinker in the garage and would find a gem often at several area swap meets. He could fix almost anything! His true love, his 1959 Chevy El Camino, carried him to many car shows and visits with friends at the Silver Dollar and Tin Lizzy’s. He was always there to help a friend. His heart was as solid as his welds on steel.

Those left to cherish Maynard’s memory are his daughter, Kerri, son, Matthew, grandson, Alexander and granddaughter, Liliana all of Fremont; brothers, Ernie Kucera of Friend, Doran (Connie) Kucera of Humphrey, and Elliot Kucera of Columbus; sisters, Gloria Vesely, Rita Lauer both of Fremont and Melva (Mike) Prososki of Schuyler; best friends for 70 years, Rod and Mavis Lass of Snyder and several nieces and nephews.

Those welcoming him in heaven are his parents; an infant sibling, brother, Duane Kucera; sister, Delores “Dee” and husband, James Nygren, brothers-in-law, Dwaine Lauer and Steve Vesely.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday, July 24, 2025, at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Scott Jensen will officiate. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday also at Moser’s. In the spirit of his love of classic cars, please drive yours if you have one.

Interment will be at Memorial Cemetery in Fremont.

Memorials are suggested to Paralyzed Veterans or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Online condolences may be left at www.mosermemorialchapels.com.
