
Bertha Mary Cowles was 80 years old at the time of her death. She died on Saturday July 19, 2025. Bert was born in Mitchell, South Dakota, on March 24, 1945. Her parents were Edith and Carl Lowrie.
Bert graduated from Fremont Senior High School in 1963, following graduation she attended Cornhusker School of Cosmetology in Fremont and was a beautician for 31 years. Bert had many hobbies including quilting, Bert was a part of Prairie Peacemakers quilting group. Bert was willing to help anyone with issues or problems in their quilting endeavors. Bert also had an interest in oil painting early in life and was an avid bowler.
Bert is survived by her husband Tim D. Cowles. They celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary together in June this year. Other survivors include brothers Paul Lowrie and Howard Lowrie. Bert has three living children, Chris Cowles, Scott A. Cowles, Bobbijeanne D. Bassett. Bert has four grandchildren Brian Barkemeier and Randy Cowles (Chirs), Ryan Cowles and Morgan Bassett (Bobbi).
Preceded in death by son, Tony D Cowles and brothers, Lee Lowrie, Dean Lowrie, and sister, Shirley Lowrie.
The gathering to remember Berts life will be 2 to 4 p.m. on July 26 at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Thank you to Lauryn, RN and her CNA staff at Hillcrest Millard for providing the best possible care toward the end of life.
