Lois Ann Munderloh, 84, of West Point, passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at St. Joseph’s Hillside Villa in West Point after a short battle with cancer.
Lois Ann was born Jan. 28, 1941 on the family farm rural Snyder to Orvin and Helen (Engelbrecht) Duerst. She was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith at Trinity Lutheran Church, rural Scribner. She graduated from Scribner High School in 1958. After graduation she attended Omaha Commerce Business School. Upon completion of school, she proudly worked as a secretary for Wimmer’s Meats.
At a dance in Snyder, she met the love of her life. Lois Ann married Donald H.E. Munderloh on February 25, 1962 at Trinity Lutheran Church, rural Scribner. The Lord blessed them with 63 years of marriage before Don’s passing in March of this year. The couple started their life together on a farm west of Scribner. The motto passed down to them and they passed on was “Marriage was like a team of horses; you always pull together.” Lois and Don were inseparable, always seen together, working side by side on their livestock/crop operation where Lois managed the books efficiently and enjoyed figuring out the next business plan. But during her favorite time of the year at harvest time, Lois took command of that steering wheel in the straight truck and hauled that grain. Lois Ann was blessed with three children and eight grandchildren, the fifth and sixth generation to continue their love and passion for agriculture. Every year Lois planned a vacation for the family and in their empty nest years Lois Ann and Don traveled the U.S. extensively.
Lois enjoyed teaching Sunday and Vacation Bible School at Trinity Lutheran Church for many years and secretary/treasurer for District #29 County School. Lois Ann was passionate about researching her family genealogy, thankful for her family homesteaded farms on both her maternal and paternal side still in the family, growing flowers, landscaping, bird watching, and taking advantage of being a grandma, she loved sharing time with her grandchildren who were her pride and joy!
Survivors include: Children, Shawn (Laura) Munderloh of Scribner, Michelle (Chris) Schiller of Snyder, Karleen (Brian) Wisnieski of Dodge. Grandchildren – Payton, Levi, and Ian Schiller, Macy Munderloh, Tristan (Lexi) Munderloh, Braxton, Stuart, & Kendall Wisnieski. Sister and Brother-in-law Delores and Marvin Fischer, and many nieces and nephews. Upon marriage, she was blessed with 17 nieces and nephews, she adored her new in-law family, a great start to a family. Lois was a fun-loving and proud mom and Grandmother and loving wife. Lois enjoyed keeping Donald in style especially with ties. Each one of her grandsons will be honoring Grandma Lois by wearing one at the funeral. Lois Ann will always be remembered by her family as a woman strong in her faith, kind and serving, sharing the history of past generations and never knowing a stranger, and her gift to gab.
