Community dinner set for Zechman

Friends of the North Bend Volunteer Fire Department, in partnership with Lincoln Premium Poultry, are hosting a community dinner on Wednesday for Tim Zechman, who was injured in an auto accident in February.

The dinner is scheduled for 5 to 7 p.m. at North Bend Community Park. All community members are invited to attend.

Dinner will include drumsticks, mashed potatoes, corn, dinner rolls and baked goods. Water will also be provided. There is no cost, but free will donations will be accepted with all the proceeds going to Zechman and his family.

“Recognizing his family’s reliance on him, we collectively rallied to provide support,” said Mike Andreasen, plant maintenance manager at Lincoln Premium Poultry. “Given his affiliation with the North Bend fire department and their enthusiasm for collaborating with LPP on a fundraiser, we were eager to contribute. We extend our best wishes to Tim and his family and are looking forward to making a positive impact in any way we can.”

Zechman was injured Feb. 10 in a rollover car accident. He sustained several injuries including a broken pelvis, vertebrate, ribs and a bruised lung. Surgery was performed to reconnect the pelvic bone with plates and screws. The surgeon estimated it may be six to 12 months before he is even able to function optimally again.

Zechman is a devoted husband and father to five children — all under the age of 10.
