Man faces prison time for Kennard standoff

state-patrol

The man responsible for a May 2024 law enforcement standoff in Kennard has been sentenced to 14 to 23 years in prison.

Jason Davenport, 43, had entered a no contest plea to first degree attempted assault, flight to avoid arrest and several weapons charges.

The Nebraska State Patrol was serving a warrant on Davenport in Omaha last year when he fired shots at officers before taking off with Dana Banks. That led to a manhunt that ended in Kennard where Davenport was found hiding in a semi cab. After he pointed a gun at officers, they began shooting and he soon surrendered.

One of those bullets hit Banks, who has recovered. She will be sentenced in June.
