Nebraska softball pitcher Jordyn Bahl was named the Big Ten Pitcher of the Week for the fifth time this season, the conference announced Monday.
Bahl is the first player in NU history to win six weekly awards in the same season – she has been the Pitcher of the Week five times and Player of the Week once. Her five Big Ten Pitcher of the Week awards are tied for the second-most in conference history.
The Papillion, Neb., native went 2-0 this weekend with a 0.00 ERA. She has not allowed an earned run in her last 18.0 innings pitched. This week, her opponents had a batting average of .029. She only allowed one ball out of the infield against Maryland, which was a fly out, and she shut down a Terrapin offense that had scored 61 runs across six games entering the weekend.
Bahl allowed only one hit in the first game against Maryland, where she pitched a complete game. She allowed no hits in a 4.0-inning outing in game three.
She now leads the conference in ERA (1.46), strikeouts (234), opponent batting average (.150) and WHIP (0.94) and is third in wins (22).
The Huskers grabbed a bye in the Big Ten Tournament and will face the winner of No. 6 Iowa vs. No. 11 Penn State. NU’s game is set for 10 a.m. (CT) on Thursday, May 8 and will be televised on the Big Ten Network. It can also be heard across the Huskers Radio Network.
