Three Rivers offers vaccines for children

Three Rivers Public Health Department (3RPHD) is offering Vaccines for Children (VFC) clinics in Blair, Fremont, and Wahoo to ensure that children across the region have access to essential immunizations.

As of April 30, the United States has reported about 884 confirmed measles cases across 30 states, the highest annual total since 2019. Texas remains the epicenter of the outbreak with 663 cases, including 87 hospitalizations and two deaths involving unvaccinated children. Nationally, children younger than 18 account for nearly two-thirds of reported measles cases.

“At Three Rivers, we care deeply about the health and well-being of every child in our community,” said Terra Uhing, Executive Director of Three Rivers Public Health Department. “By offering these vaccine clinics, we’re making sure families have easy, local access to the protection their children need. It’s one of the many ways we’re working to support and strengthen the communities we serve.”

The VFC Program provides free vaccines to children who are uninsured, underinsured, Medicaid-eligible, or American Indian/Alaska Native. It removes financial barriers to ensure that every child can be protected from serious, preventable diseases like measles, mumps, and rubella.
