For its clinical outcomes and patient satisfaction rates, Methodist Fremont Health’s Center for Wound Healing has earned multiple prestigious awards by Healogics, the nation’s leading provider of advanced wound care services.

These awards include:

·    The President’s Circle award, Healogics’ most honored recognition for centers that achieve clinical and operational excellence. This award was given to only 42 centers out of Healogics’ Wound Care Center network of more than 600 wound clinics.

·     The Center of Distinction award, Healogics’ recognition for wound centers that achieve a patient satisfaction rate higher than 92% and a comprehensive healing rate of greater than or equal to 77%.

·     The Robert A. Warriner, III, Clinical Excellence award, Healogics’ recognition for centers that score in the top 10% of eligible wound care centers for clinical excellence. Such excellence is measured by the center’s comprehensive healing rate, which is weighted by wound variety.

The Center for Wound Healing utilizes a comprehensive clinical pathway for patients suffering from diabetic foot ulcers, pressure ulcers, infections and a variety of other chronic wounds.

“Our team’s success is backed by everyone’s understanding of the gravity that a patient’s outcome has on their quality of life,” said Adam Pentel, DO, general surgeon and medical director of the Methodist Fremont Health Center for Wound Healing. “Wound care can be complex, but our approach is simple – to infuse a compassionate, individualized approach in an effort to heal the person, not just the wound. Although these awards are incredibly humbling and a testament to our dedication, I know I speak for everyone at the Center for Wound Healing in saying that nothing tops the look on a patient’s face when they feel ready and able to truly live life again.”

Methodist’s advanced wound care modalities include negative pressure wound therapy, total contact casting, the use of bioengineered tissue and biosynthetic dressings, and growth factor therapies. The center is also home to two hyperbaric oxygen chambers, which surround patients with 100% pressurized oxygen to help accelerate healing for a variety of issues, including soft tissue radionecrosis, chronic refractory osteomyelitis, grade 3-5 diabetic ulcers and more.

The provider-based clinic is led by medical director Dr. Pentel, program director Betsy Flores, RN, and clinical nurse manager Abbie Nieman, RN.
