Joan Walla Vech of Cedar Bluffs passed away Thursday, April 10, 2025, at Ridgewood Senior Living in Bennington.
Joan was born on May 21, 1931 to William and Josephine T. (Walla) Vech. Joan grew up on the family farm west of Cedar Bluffs. She graduated from Cedar Bluffs High School and the University of Nebraska. She was a kindergarten teacher for more than 20 years in Lincoln. After retiring Joan loved working with the sheep, cattle, dogs and cats on the family farm.
She was an avid reader of the local area newspapers, keeping up on the current happenings of the members of her community, friends and family members. She saved newspaper articles concerning news of her friends and family members. She was proud of her Czech heritage and enjoyed listening to polka music on the radio and going to Kolache Korner in Prague for a meal of Czech food.
Joan is survived by many cousins, extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
The Memorial Service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, April 28, 2025, at Moser Memorial Chapel, 200 West Main in Cedar Bluffs. Visitation will be 9:30 to prior to the service at the funeral home.
