The Hooper Volunteer Fire Department responded to a fire at about 8 this morning on the west edge of town.
Hooper Fire Chief Brett Moeller said firefighters arrived and found a garage fully engulfed with a boat inside.
“We were able to get it contained before it jumped to the house,” he said. “The side of the house got pretty hot, but we were able to contain it to that structure alone. It is a complete loss.”
Moeller said the quick response prevented the fire from spreading.
“It could’ve gotten way worse, but we got it contained before it spread anywhere else,” he said.
No injuries were reported. The state fire marshal is investigating the cause.
