
A man has been arrested following the death of a woman Saturday near North Bend.
According to the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office, authorities received a call from a man at about 4:56 p.m. advising them that he had been in a crash on the side of Highway 30 and County Road 5, west of North Bend.
As deputies were responding, additional calls were received about a woman covered in blood located off the roadway near a field.
Deputies arrived on scene and began life saving measures on the woman. She was subsequently transported by North Bend Fire Department, with assistance from the Fremont Fire Department to Methodist Fremont Health. Authorities said the woman had injuries consistent with gunshot wounds. She was then transferred to Nebraska Medicine by medical helicopter where she died from her injuries.
With the assistance of multiple witnesses on the scene, the original vehicle was located by deputies and the suspect was taken into custody without incident.
Authorities said there is no outstanding threat to the public. The name of the victim is being withheld pending next of kin notification. The investigation is ongoing.
