In 2022, 3,308 lives were lost in crashes involving distracted driving which is 8% of the fatal crashes.
More than 32,000 lives have been lost due to distracted driving crashes from 2013-2022. Due to these significant statistics, the Fremont Police Department is participating in the “Put the Phone Away or Pay” grant in collaboration with the NDOT Highway Safety Office.
This grant will consist of increased patrols and traffic enforcement between April 7-14, specifically aimed at reducing distracted driving in efforts to reduce serious traffic accidents.
