
The State Central Committee of the Nebraska GOP met Saturday in Kearney. New party leadership was chosen with Mary Jane Truemper of Omaha selected as the state chair. Former chair, Eric Underwood, chose not to seek re-election.
Truemper is a longtime activist in Douglas County on political matters.
Other leaders chosen by the State Central Committee include chairs for each of the three Nebraska Congressional Districts: First –Loreen Reynante, second– Susie Bliss and third — Chris Vail.
State Treasurer David Plond was re-elected.
Committeeman and Committeewoman John and Elaine Grothusen were among 144 members representing 51 districts from across the state that attended the meeting.
Other highlights included Political Director Joe Hagerty explaining help offered by the State Party to help county parties recruit and train candidates and State Senator Dan Lonowski providing an update of the Nebraska Legislature.
Several GOP Constitutional amendments and resolutions were debated.
The next State Central Committee meeting will be in August in Lincoln.
