Marrion Olga Dorothy Heller Christiansen passed away on February 20, 2025 at the age of 92 at Dunklau Gardens in Fremont. She was born on November 12, 1932, in Wisner to Oscar and Laura (Besmer) Heller. She grew up on a farm south of Wisner.

Marrion attended Zion Lutheran School through 8th grade and then attended Wisner High school for 1½ years. After that she stayed home to help on the family farm. She was a hard worker helping her parents on the farm and milking cows.

She married Frank Christiansen on June 24, 1953, at Zion Lutheran Church in Wisner. They lived in Wisner and to this marriage they welcomed a son and daughter, Randy and Robin. They later moved to Fremont.

Marrion worked at Pendleton Woolen Mills in Fremont where they made wool clothing. Marrion’s job was sewing zippers and she said she would sew in 300 to 500 zippers daily. She had fun playing softball on a team in Uehling. Marrion’s favorite sport and hobby was bowling. She was on several bowling teams and bowled for many years. She was inducted into the Fremont Bowlers Hall of Fame in 2006.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and a lifetime member of the VFW Women’s Auxiliary.

Marrion enjoyed camping and would often take grandkids camping with her as well. She also enjoyed teaching the grandkids how to fish. At times the grandkids even fished with no bait on their hooks but they still caught very tiny fish, Marrion would take the time to clean the baby fish for the grandkids.

Marrion spent a lot of time out in her garden. She loved gardening and canning many of her vegetables, Marrion had a beautiful talent of crocheting, she crocheted many beautiful afghans and doilies. She often would make her great grandchildren handmade sewn gifts as well. She was also known for making her special Angel food cake for celebrations at family gatherings.

Marrion liked to watch and cheer on her favorite games on television and was a fan of the Huskers, the Kansas City Royals, and the Kansas City Chiefs.

Among her hobbies and loves were her family and always taking the time for them. Marrion enjoyed going fishing on Randy’s pontoon and also going to Loran and Robin’s lake home to watch the grandkids and great grandkids have fun at the Lake. She would also enjoy attending the grandkids and great grandkids activities. Marrion is preceded in death by her parents, husband Frank, sisters: Lucille Luedke, Renata Birky, Beverly Kindschuh, Ruth English and brothers: Merlin Heller and Melvern Heller.

She is survived by her son: Randy (Bonny) Christiansen of Fremont, and daughter Robin (Loran) Hilbers of Hooper and her six grandchildren: Doug (special friend Vicki) Christiansen, Jennifer (Mike) Barker, Nathan Hilbers, Greg (Martha) Hilbers, Brent (Erica) Hilbers, and Travis Christiansen. She is also survived by her 13 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-granddaughter. Marrion is also survived by her sisters: Betty Lou (Richard) Lines of Omaha, LaVina Flowers of Beemer, Janet English of Beemer, Karen (Steven) Young of Rawlins, Wyoming, and sisters-in-law: Betty Heller of West Point, and Evelyn Heller of Wisner, and brother in-law Duane English of New Mexico. Marrion also had many friends in her life.

Marrion’s celebration of life will be held on Sunday March 2 at the Eagles Club at 649 North Main Street in Fremont at 12:30 p.m. and lunch will be provided. There will be a private family burial at a later date.

Memorials may be directed to the Fremont Bowling Association and the Fremont Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary No. 854 of Fremont.
