Sandra “Sandy” J Finney, 79, of Fremont passed away Friday, February 21, 2025, at Methodist Fremont Health. She was born June 22, 1945 in Fremont to Harry and Charlotte (Heller) Timm.

Sandy grew up in Fremont and the surrounding area. As a young adult, she lived in Fort Riley, Kansas, and Germany with her first husband and returned home to Fremont in 1967. She met the love of her life Dale Finney and they were married July 31, 1977. Together they made their home in Fremont.

Sandy was a devoted mother and homemaker, known for her warm smile and hugs that she gave out freely to all. She was a member of the United Pentecostal Church in Fremont, lifetime member of the VFW Post No. 854 Auxiliary, Fremont Eagles Club FOE 200, and the Bible Study Fellowship. She loved tending her beautiful flowers and quilting.

Sandy is survived by her husband, Dale of Fremont; daughters, LaNita (Dean) Ortgies of Eagle, Carolyn Finney of Omaha, Susan (Jay) Fowler of Hooper and Sandra (Travis) Weinrich of Battle Creek; sons, Tim (Jennifer) Finney of Council Bluffs, Iowa, William Hurt of Burlington, Kansas and Jeff Hurt of Lincoln; sister, Jan (Gary) Bailey of Woodbury, Minnesota; 20 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her parents; first husband William Hurt (d.1967) and brother, David Timm.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday February 28, 2025, at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Pastor Roger Wagner will officiate. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday and will continue 9 to 10 a.m. Friday all at Moser’s in Fremont. Interment will be at the Omaha National Cemetery in Omaha.
